The Young Carers research group takes part in the Ashmolean Museum's LiveFriday event!
May 2015: On Friday 15th May 2015, the Young Carers research group took part in the Ashmolean Museum's 'LiveFriday' public engagement evening, in collaboration with the University of Oxford's Social Sciences Division. We screened the "TAG Young Carers" video and invited visitors to take part in a competition. The aim was for participants to design a fashion prototype to enable HIV+ adolescent to carry their antiretroviral (ARV) medication with them in a cool and discreet way. The stigma of being HIV+ is a tricky barrier for adolescents to navigate and can affect their medication adherence. Thus, figuring ways to encourage teenagers to take them is very important. Despite the sombre nature of the subject, it was a really fun night with Plasticine drawing in crowds, both young and old, into tactile design creativity. An estimated 4,500 people came through the Museum's doors that night!
